Dr. Michael R. Crum
Dr. Michael R. Crum was a professor of supply chain management at the Ivy College of Business at Iowa State University for more than 42 years. He held both the Ruan Chair in Supply Chain Management and the John D. Devries Endowed Chair in Business during his career. Within the college, Mike served twelve years in the leadership positions of Department Chair, Associate Dean – Graduate Programs and Research, and Interim Raisbeck Endowed Dean. Additionally, he was the university’s inaugural Vice President for Economic Development and Business Engagement, serving five years in that position.
Mike’s research and teaching focused on transportation management. He authored or co-authored more than 100 papers in various publications and is a former editor-in-chief of two academic journals. In 1988-89, Mike was a Fulbright Scholar at the Warsaw School of Economics in Warsaw, Poland. In 2023 he received a career achievement recognition when he was designated a Distinguished Fellow by the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals. Mike earned his D.B.A., M.B.A., and B.S. degrees in transportation from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. In addition to serving on the GICU Board of Directors, Mike has served for 19 years on the Ames Civil Service Commission. He enjoys tennis, golf, reading, and travel in his spare time.
