Donations & Sponsorships
GICU is a cooperative financial services provider committed to our credit union mission of ‘people helping people'.
We believe it is our obligation to provide financial support to parties and organizations who share this same mission in the communities we jointly serve.
Our areas of giving typically focus on non-profit parties who aptly demonstrate that their efforts contribute to the betterment of our communities and enrich the lives of the people who live in them, predominantly through fundraising and building campaigns.
These entities traditionally include: Areas of Giving
- local non-profit groups
- schools
- organizations designated at 501c or other official designation
While GICU will review all completed submissions and understands there may be unique circumstances, submissions that are not typically supported include:
- Individuals
- Private organizations or foundations
- Political or religious organizations
- Organizations whose activities extend beyond our 33-county service area
- Subdivisions or subgroups of organizations already receiving support
- Requests which GICU subjectively deems pose a conflict of interest to or the well-being of the credit union membership
The Selection Process
The GICU Corporate Giving Committee, which includes both GICU Board and Team Members, is charged with the review of submissions including how well they feel each request aligns itself with the ‘people helping people’ mission. Submissions may be made as a single event, calendar year, or multi-year requests. Only fully completed requests will be considered. Submissions must be made online; no hardcopy reproductions of this online form, emails, or mailed solicitations will be accepted.
The GICU Corporate Giving Committee will review requests on a quarterly basis and submissions must be received by the deadline to be considered. Submissions received after the deadline will be assigned to the next review period.

Organizations will be notified of the review outcome within three to four weeks after the submission deadline. Organizations may also be contacted within that same period if supplemental information or discussion is required as part of the review process. The GICU Corporate Giving Committee reserves the right to modify requests and/or award amounts based on budgetary or other guidelines.
